A BIT ABOUT ME
I’m Madison—a photographer, a knitter, a thrifter, a wife to my favorite person, and soon-to-be mom to our first baby. My husband and I moved from Texas to Madison, Wisconsin, knowing no one but each other, and we’ve built a quiet, beautiful little life here.
Growing up, my family was far from perfect, but we were real. We were loud and a little unruly, but my mom always said we had truth serum in our veins, meaning we talked about everything. We were a close-knit bunch.
When I look back on my childhood, there’s this sense of magic I can’t quite put my finger on. Maybe it’s the way my family could make each other laugh until someone peed their pants, or the memories of evenings spent in the backyard, playing until the sun went down. Whatever it is, there is something about those days that I wish I could hold onto forever.
What I would give to have those memories in physical form. These days as my husband and I start our own family, I feel that desire even more deeply, to slow down, to notice, to remember.
That’s what photography is for me. It’s a way of preserving the quiet in-between moments, the ones that slip through the cracks of our busy days but end up meaning the most. Life changes so quickly, people grow, homes shift, seasons move on, but photographs let us hold time still, just for a second.
As I’ve grown into this work, I’ve realized how much I’m drawn to the honest, unpolished parts of family life. Being a candid family photographer here in Madison means I get to witness those small truths for other people—the quiet gestures, the easy laughter, the way a child instinctively reaches for their parent’s hand. It feels like a privilege to help families see the beauty in what’s already theirs.
